The UK Government has announced a £2bn grant to help homeownerts increase energy efficiency within their homes.
This comes as part of a flurry of economic stimuli from the Chancellor in recent days, in a bid to get the economy going again after a historic slump within the lockdown period. Rishi Sunak has called on homeowners to consider updating the energy efficiency of their properties, given his pledge to foot 2/3rds of the bill, up to a value of £5000, or £10000 for low-income households.
It is the Government’s hope that this will galvanise the construction sector with ‘Green Jobs’ and see sweeping changes to the domestic landscape at the same time. Commentators have described this as action as a “positive measure, given the long-term benefits it will have in creating jobs across all regions in the UK whilst also reducing household bills”.
