Savings
High quality solar panels can save about 70 per cent of a household’s annual domestic hot water costs, if sized correctly, well-installed and properly used. In summer, this saving can rise to as much as 100% while in spring and autumn, it can be approx. 45%. Even in winter, the system can still save 10-15% on this cost as panels do operate in low light conditions and cold temperatures too. The likely average household saving in our region will be greater than £200 per year just in hot water costs for homes currently on gas (even more if the house uses oil or has electric for water heating).
The added financial benefits include:
- Less wear on your boiler as many customers turn their boilers off completely in the summer
- You will help protect your household budget from the trend of increasing fuel prices
- A modern solar rated insulated hot water cylinder (if you choose to upgrade) will help lower your fuel bill further

Our solar systems are designed to be eligible for the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) which was launched in November 2011 for commercial systems and is due to be launched in early 2014 for domestic systems. It is proposed that the domestic RHI payment, when introduced, will pay 17.3p per kwh as cashback and will be guaranteed for a 7 year period, with typical cashback payments to domestic customers of well over £200 every year.
