I first thought of having solar panels in the new year of 2011. A friend had recommended Redmile Energy rather than a firm nearer to me. I am a hard sell and, treat sales talk with suspicion. I tried the patience of the salesman while I asked a lot of questions and took notes during the site visit. I then received a comprehensive email with two different quotes for two different size panel installations. I took my time reading and re reading this data. I then asked more and more questions by email and not once were they stumped for an answer. Not once was I given exaggerated claims of the performance of their panels. I believe my research (some of which was independent of Redmile) was as thorough as possible.

I was never pressurised into making my decision. I paid my deposit and received an installation date, which they stuck to. The installers and electrician were efficient, professional and tidy. They completed the work in two days despite an unexpected delay due to my ancient household fuse box needing to be replaced with a newer and safer system.

Not once did I get the feeling I was being ripped off. They did not even complain when I sourced my own scaffold company rather than use their own to do the install!

My generation meter shows the German engineered panels are performing well. We are now in December and have experienced gale force winds and the panels appear to be as secure as the day they were fitted.

All solar panel firms can promise free daytime electricity and cheques through the government feed in tariff scheme. However I know that rival firms did not stand up to the kind of scrutiny I put them all through. Redmile were tested and passed with flying colours.
